Coast Corridor United Race Program
-
Coast Corridor United Racing (CCU) is a program for kids who have club race experience, completed Track Attack or are at a similar level and are ready to increase their commitment to race training and participating in races. The program is targeted at U12-U18 age athletes emerging from the Sea to Sky Corridor clubs: Sea to Sky Nordics, Spud Valley Nordics, and Whistler Nordics.
The Goals of the CCU program are:
Development of overall fitness and ski-specific skills.
Focus on aerobic training, strength and conditioning.
Develop sound technique.
Race up to BC Cup level events for all ages , with the potential for Nationals for Junior ages.
Foster a strong sense of team.
Learn to give back to the skiing community by mentoring Track Attack or Jackrabbit skiers
Have fun!
The program will include dryland training beginning in September and on-snow training starting in mid-November.
There are two categories of race programming: Track Attack Race & Junior Development Race. Both trainings will be held on the same days of the week and at the same times, and groups will be accommodated, allowing for age-appropriate volume and skill development. The majority of training will take place either at Lost Lake in Whistler or Whistler Olympic Park.
Track Attack Race
Athletes born 2013-2015 who have club race experience, completed Track Attack or are at a similar level and have the ambition to participate in races this season.
Training expectation is a minimum 2 days a week (up to 3 days/week).
Junior Development Race
Athletes born 2008 – 2012 who have completed club race experience, Track Attack or are at a similar level and have the ambition to participate in races this season. Training expectation is a minimum 2 days a week (up to 3 days/week).
**A valid Whistler Nordics membership is required for participation in club programs and can be purchased at the time of registration.
Funding
The program was initially supported by funding from the NWSDA coach grants. The “National Winter Sports Development Association” (NWSDA) was established through the foresight and donation of the Disbrow family to assist cross-country ski clubs with proven ability to develop competitive skiers and coaches based on long-term development planning. Funding is also received from PVUS Grant from the Village of Pemberton, SLRD, and Pemberton & District Initiative Fund Program.

The CCU dryland program is designed to enhance the performance and technique of cross-country skiers looking to compete this winter. Dryland is up to 3 days/week (± 5 hours). Dryland training plays a crucial role in building strength, endurance, and refining skiing technique. Skiers entering this program have a sound foundation of cross-country ski technique and have completed Track Attack or a similar level, and are ready to make the commitment to training and racing.
Junior Development athletes may supplement these weekly training sessions with non-team sessions that align with the Yearly Training Plan (YTP) for strength and endurance development.
Most dryland will take place at Lost Lake or Whistler Olympic Park in Whistler. Dryland may shift to on-snow as early as November 9th when Callaghan Gold at Whistler Olympic Park is set to open. *Coaching resources and participation numbers may dictate some modifications to this schedule.
