EVENT UPDATES & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Hello again!

We are happy to continue keeping you up to date on what’s going on at Whistler Nordics, read on for important event information, member perks, where we could use a hand, and a great ski tip for you at the end!

Our first toonie ski and social last Thursday was a great time! Forty excited skiers aged 10-75+, set off at 6:30 pm to race, glide, and shuffle through Lost Lake trails at night by light and headlamp.

Spotted at the event were young and seasoned racers, aspiring skiers, and Whistler Nordic alumni. It was great to ski together and gather afterwards for après!!

NEW this year: You MUST register online by 11:59PM the day before the event.

Some other important details you need to know for the Toonie Ski Series:

• Choose your own adventure, while there are a few racers who like to compete there are many recreational skiers and families who are out for a fun ski.

• Headlamp mandatory!

• Arrive before 6 for classic equipment rentals. No registration on site.

• These are fun, social affairs, great exercise, a chance to connect with others - there are prizes, food and drinks!

These awesome events are not possible without contribution from volunteers! If you can contribute some time this Thursday January 25th - please sign up through the link below!

Whistler Nordics has a wax trailer at Whistler Olympic Park in the XC Stadium area for you to use. 

Keep your gear warm, wax your skis on the wax tables/profiles or catch up with friends…the space is there for you to enjoy. Only request, please keep it clean and tidy.

Coaches can provide access codes and an introduction to the wax trailer, email admin@whistlernordics.com to request access, and an introduction from a Board member.

This past weekend on January 20th, the Teck Coast Cup #3 took place!

Chief of Competition Delores Los commented, “In true spirit of growing the love of nordic skiing, it was an exciting and fun filled day with lots of racers of all ages coming together to have fun, share in the comradery of the community and ultimately work hard... Thank you, volunteers, coaches, racers, and Whistler Olympic Park!”

Cheryl Morningstar Loppett

Come out and celebrate the true spirit of Nordic Skiing in memory of Cheryl Morningstar at the Lost Lake Loppet and Social Ski! This will be a fun Loppet race and/or social try-it ski starting and finishing at the Passive House at Lost Lake. Racers can choose from a short ~2km, med ~9km, or long ~18km course.

WHISTLER MUSEUM EVENT REMINDER

This will be sure to be a great community event at the Whistler Museum “Valley Glides - A History of Nordic Skiing in Whistler” on Monday February 5th - tickets available at the door from 6:30PM with cash or card, the event starts at 7:00PM. Tea, coffee and treats will be provided. We hope to see you there!
