Teck Coast Cup #2

From Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club:

“Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club hosted the Teck Coast Cup #2 and BC Winter Games Trials (for zones 3, 4 & 5) at Whistler Olympic Park on December 30th.

The unseasonable mild temperatures and lack of snow this season forced officials to make last-minute modifications to the racecourse. Despite the challenging conditions, 132 participants aged 4 to 63 braved the rain to take part in the classic technique interval start race.”

Chief of Competition Jake Weaver commented, “The weather was wet, but all the racers had a great time! There were lots of smiles, and everyone was working hard. A special thanks goes to all the volunteers who did an awesome job putting on a really good race.”

Below are the results from our local skiers! We are proud of their effort, and grit, competing in less than ideal conditions with a great attitude. Special mention to Veja Stevens for qualifying for qualifying for the BC Games!

CCU: Coast Corridor United (CCU) is a collaborative effort between the 3 regional clubs to create a performance-focused cohort for U-12 to U-16 aged racers. Skiers from Spud Valley Nordics, Whistler Nordics, and Sea to Sky Nordics, have joined forces to develop the program with coaches, and technical direction under the banner of Coast Corridor United, administered by the Whistler Nordics Club.
