Sigge’s P’ayakentsut

P’ayakentsut comes from the Squamish Nation … A place to train oneself physically.

Squamish warriors came to this remote place year round to train. They would go into seclusion to fast and perform rigorous endurance exercises in the mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. They also conducted cold water bathing here – striving for harmony and discipline.

Our culture is manifested through our strong physical and spiritual relationship with nature.

All volunteers are fed a tasty lunch, and are eligible for great draw prizes from the event sponsors, including Salomon, Fisher, Swix, and Icebreaker, and day passes to Whistler Olympic Park. This event is hosted by the Callaghan Valley Cross Country Ski Club – comprised of the Nordic Racers, Hollyburn, Whistler Nordics and Spud Valley ski clubs.

Volunteer Organizer Needed

The organizers of the Sigge’s Payak are looking for a volunteer co-ordinator for this year’s event, which is already looking like it will be the best yet!  We need someone to help sort out all those volunteers that make the race happen – an important job, but you can do it!

If you are organized, can operate an excel spreadsheet, have enough computer savy to send and receive email and count up how many lunches we need (very important!) then this job is for you!

Please contact Sherryl at sherryl@callaghanxcski.ca or Dirk at dirk@callaghanxcski.ca if you want more information about this opportunity.
