Volunteers

  • Fact: We are a volunteer organization and have a host of positions and jobs we can use help with.
  • Fact: Volunteers make the WNSC work!

There are numerous opportunities to stay involved with the Club, both on and off the snow during and after the ski season. Volunteers are needed in a full range of activities, including highly technical areas, as well as more general duties. You do not have to be a skier to help out. In fact, you do not need to have had any previous race experience. What we need is your time, enthusiasm, energy, and the volunteer spirit which makes WNSC such a great Nordic ski club.

Volunteer Training and Support

A sample of volunteer needs for a competition are: timing, course, stadium, security, hospitality, transportation, publicity and promotion, medical and first aid.

Training or experience is not necessary but WNSC supports its members to become fully trained in all areas of competition. Learn the theory and technical aspects of becoming an official by participating in an Officials Course offered by Cross Country B.C.  There are many opportunities in Whistler and across the Province to participate in officials courses.

Expectations for Commitment and Certification.

Officials who volunteer in the technical aspects of races will be expected to have, at minimum, their Level I Officials certification. Some senior positions will require higher level certification.
